Geek.Kon Has Ended
Geek.Kon was a convention the ELGN staffers Shawn, Jacob, and Derek all went to and had a shit-ton of fun at! Each staffer did different things at the con and each had their own fun. Descriptions of each below.
Shawn spent all of his time in the LAN room doing a lot of… well LAN gaming and some uber pwnage. :]
Jacob was primarily in the LAN room aswell, but he also went everywhere else. At times, he went to the Vendor rooms, always finding some way to come back with a box of Pocky or two… “The game room was amazing. The video game room, mind you,. Not the board game – Didn’t make it there. Lots of classic games. Legend of Zelda, probably one of each game was there, and I actually made the Brawl tourney start, or at least helped it get up. I was owning so hard, people wanted to see more! Lawl… xD” He also was in the musical games room a few times playing DDR, and a 9-button slap melody game. Very challenging and hard to get used to.
Derek was busy running the Bemani (Rhythm Video Games) room and volunteering. At one point he had to clean up after a guy who played DDR too much and threw up (luckily it was in a trash can). He also spent a little bit of time in the vendor room, and overall was everywhere at one point or another. Overall still had a blast even though he was dead tired after it all. Interestingly enough the staff enjoyed his work and might even make him a staffer even though he’s under 18 (pending the whole group’s decisions).
The only sad thing about Geek.Kon was that ELGN had a bit of trouble selling shirts, in which case, we didn’t even sell one. The main problem was that we couldn’t advertise our shirts outside of… well, our advertisement. We couldn’t advertise in the rooms or anything. Next year we’re definately getting a vendor table to sell our material.
I’ll say though… The LAN room was awesome! It was filled with carnage from old games. Unreal Tournament, Halo, etc. Had some newer gen games as well like Battlefield 2, Team Fortress 2, etc.
The three of us created this blog post via Google Wave and had a fun, new experience doing so.
